Discus throwing includes a throwing circle, a safety cage and a landing area. These are located at the ends of the back straight and the landing area is located in the grass area inside the track.

The discus throwing room near the starting 1500 meters is usually combined with a hammer throwing facility. The only difference is that the diameter of the discus circle is 2.50 m and the diameter of the hammer circle is 2.135 m. The safety cage must meet the more stringent requirements for the hammer throw. If two separate discus and hammer throwing circles are placed inside the hammer throwing enclosure, the discus throwing circle is the circle closer to the landing area.

Throwing the hammer

Layout Dimensions of the hammer throw facility
A hammer throw facility includes a throwing circle, a safety cage and a landing area. It is usually combined with a discus throwing facility.

The hammer throw circle is slightly smaller than the discus circle. The surface of the concrete circle is slightly smoother for hammer throwing than for discus throwing. If the circle is used for both discus and hammer throwing, a compromise finish is required. For more information, see section 2.4.2.2 of the Manual.

Javelin throw

A javelin throwing facility includes a runway, throwing arc and landing sector. As the length of the runway exceeds the space available on the segment, it is usually extended across the track and the track boundary. javelin runway and landing sector dimensions

A removable curb is required, and the height of the oval track and segment surfaces must be the same along the track boundary. For a runway in any segment, the landing sector is located in the grass area inside the track.

The landing area has a minimum length of 30 meters and is measured from the start of the runway to the trailing edge of the side markings outside the runway at the same level as the throwing arc. It is marked by two parallel white lines 0.05 m wide and 4 m apart. The runway is covered with the same surface as the track.

Shot Put

The shot put facility includes a throwing circle, a stop board and a landing area. The landing area is usually located in the grass area inside the track.
